Vidalia &8212; Residents of Vidalia can no longer burn items in the city limits.
The Concordia Parish Police Jury issued a burn ban Monday night for the city and the area 1,500 feet outside the city limits
The ban is the result of complaints from numerous Vidalia citizens of being &8220;smoked out,&8221; Jury President Melvin Ferring said.
The newly initiated ban will also include an amendment so the ordinance can be opened back up for further discussions in the event of numerous complaints.
The members of the board also sent out bids to request information on purchasing a Mac truck for the cities use. The board voted to accept the one bid it received and voted to purchase the truck costing approximately $76,000.
&8220;We need the truck to help move our heavy equipment,&8221; Ferrington said.
In other business, the board voted to move $30,000 from a sales tax fund to the drainage fund and $40,000 from sales tax fund to solid waste funds.
