Ferriday &8212; Citizens and passers by of Ferriday will soon be shown the plans of town improvement without having to look too far.
Seven drawings from the downtown revitalization effort master plan are currently being painted on seven billboards to be displayed along Louisiana Avenue. The four-by-eight foot signs are to be completed for the 100th anniversary celebration of the town of Ferriday in October.
&8220;These projects are not a pie in the sky,&8221; Ferriday Economic Development Director Teresa Dennis said. &8220;These are working projects, some of which already have funding.&8221;
Two of the seven billboards will display depictions of the overview master plan and one will show the proposed town plaza. Funding is available for the arcade, streetscape, Ferriday community center and music pavilion, which will be drawn on the other billboards.
&8220;So many people in the community aren&8217;t familiar with the actual master plans,&8221; Dennis said. &8220;This is a way for people to see them when they drive by.&8221;
The idea for the billboards, created by Jan Yates, was approved at a town council meeting last Tuesday, forwarding beginnings of the project, Dennis said.
