NATCHEZ &8212; The Lorman A&8217;s took care of business Tuesday night, making the trip down to Chester Willis Field a relative breeze in a 6-1 win over Natchez Community Hospital.
The win gave the A&8217;s the T.M. Jennings Senior League championship.
The A&8217;s controlled the game much of the way, but an Ivan Mays run off a passed ball in the third and two more runs in the fourth put the game away. Mays leaped over pitcher Kendall Logan to get to the plate.
Cody Barber of Natchez Community scored in the top of the first inning to give his team a 1-0 lead, but it was all downhill from there.
Jeremy Nobles and Dovan Gray scored in the bottom half of the inning to help Lorman take the lead, 2-1. Antonio Graves scored the following inning to push the lead to 3-1 before Mays&8217; leap. The A&8217;s would never look back, as Natchez Community never truly threatened the rest of the way.
Great defensive play throughout helped the A&8217;s, including several impressive double plays and several players being thrown out while attempting to steal.
The game was called in the fifth inning due to the 1.5-hour time limit in the T.M. Jennings Senior League.
Following the game, senior league president Dan Hill came to the press box to announce the 2006 T.M. Jennings All-Stars.
&8220;Congratulations to the A&8217;s,&8221; he said.
The 2006 T.M. Jennings 13-14-year-old All-Stars are, tentatively, Alfred Banks, Keenen McCalllister, Brian Isaacs, Caleb Johnson, Javon Washington, Patrick Wesley, Rico Cravens, Charles Buchanan, Jonathon Hawkins and Kelvin Barber.
