NATCHEZ &8212; By the end of the day Friday four Concordia Parish residents had qualified to fill the state representative seat left vacant by Bryant Hammett.
Andy Anders and James E. Lee from Clayton, Richard Madison from Vidalia and Samuel Thomas from Tallulah met the necessary requirements. Absent from the list were Glen McGlothin and Buddy Spillers, both who&8217;d previously said they planned to run.
McGlothin, former mayor of Ferriday, and Spillers, president of Ouachita Economic Development Corporation, announced their intentions of running in July but did not show at the clerk of courts office to qualify.
McGlothin said he just didn&8217;t feel the need to run with so many qualified men running.
&8220;Both Andy Anders and James Lee are my good friends and all the candidates are well qualified to run so I didn&8217;t want to run,&8221; McGlothin said. &8220;I just would like to see someone from Concordia Parish win.&8221;
&8220;I also love the job I have now working for the City of Vidalia and didn&8217;t want to jeopardize that,&8221; McGlothin said. &8220;I think that I&8217;m doing a really good job there and I don&8217;t want to leave it.&8221;
