NATCHEZ &8212; As the Great River Regional Job Fair grows closer, employers and job seekers from all over are being called to attend.

The fair will be July 11 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Natchez Convention Center offering employer and prospective employee interaction.

&8220;We are up to 40 employers and still in the recruiting process and sending out information,&8221; WIN Job Center Branch Director Peggy Ballard said. &8220;We&8217;re excited because we are doing this in such a great facility. Another thing that makes this so smooth is the partnership with other community resources.&8221;

A pre-job fair workshop will be held at Copiah Lincoln Community College on July 10, offering instruction on employer interaction preparation. &8220;We really urge people to take advantage of that,&8221; Ballard said.

Randy Castilaw will be conducting the workshop followed by assistance of the WIN Job Center if needed, Ballard said. The workshop will offer instruction to job applicants including information on proper dress, resume presentation to the proper behavior at a job fair.

&8220;The important thing for applicants is appearance, attitude, preparation and being able to complete thorough applications,&8221; she said.

Applicant resumes are also very important and will be offered in the workshop and in a mobile resume-writing unit to be held outside the job fair for those who are unable to attend the workshop.

Employers with job offers in administration, construction, corrections, truck driving and law enforcement will be in attendance.

Riverboat operations, education and maintenance opportunities will also represent a small portion of the employers expected to attend, Ballard said.

The registration fee for employers is $125 and includes an eight by 10 booth, a draped table, two hot lunches and access to a hospitality room. Additional services are available for employers if needed. Roughly 1,000 prospective employees are expected to attend and 107.1 KFN will offer live radio coverage of the event.

&8220;We are only asking people who truly have jobs to be there. There is no fluff here.&8221; Job Fair committee member Teresa Dennis said.

Employer sign-in and set up is from 2 to 5 p.m. July 10 and from 7 to 8:30 a.m. July 11. For more information visit www.jobfairs.ms.gov. or call the WIN Job Center at 601-445-0243.
