Gunshots, stabbing investigated

VIDALIA &8212; Shots fired in the city limits and a possible stabbing are under investigation, Vidalia Chief of Police Billy Hammers said.
According to the Vidalia Police Department incident report, officer Terence Williams was getting a unit ready for service at the VPD when he heard approximately three gunshots Sunday.
The shots sounded like they came from John Dale Drive, the report said. Williams then proceeded to ride down John Dale Drive.
At approximately 4:35 a.m. the VPD received a call in reference to shots being fired, the report said. After further investigation, officer Williams came in contact with the victim of the incident.
Christopher Kennedy reported several subjects approached him and Anthony Smith pulled a gun, reports said. Kennedy became scared and got in his vehicle to leave. Shots were then fired into the back window of the car, breaking the glass, reports said. Kennedy then drove off from the scene, damaging both cars.
&8220;The incident is still under investigation,&8221; Hammers said.
Monday Officer Stuart Boykin&8217;s unit was dispatched to Texas Street to investigate a call in reference to a stabbing, reports said. Kenneth Warner was allegedly stabbed, and received injuries to his eye area and hand.
A Metro Ambulance transported Warner to Natchez Regional Hospital, reports said. The condition of the victim is unknown.
No witnesses at the scene wished to give statements, the report said.
