NATCHEZ &8212; Natchez photographer Bill Morace died Tuesday after falling off the balcony of his home.

Morace, 68, was leaning against a rail on the second-floor balcony of 1114 Main St., Lt. T. McGehee with the Natchez Police Department said. The rail gave way and he fell face-first 14 feet to the sidewalk, McGehee said.

Police responded to the call at 6:17 a.m. Tuesday.

Morace was taken to Natchez Regional Medical Center and flown to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Morace was in the surgical intensive care unit at UMC. He died around 6 p.m. Tuesday, McGehee said.

&8220;Everything we saw said it was accidental,&8221; McGehee said.
