Natchez man arrested for pirating CDs, DVDs

Natchez &8212; A Natchez man was arrested Thursday for pirating CDs and DVDs.
The FBI arrested Alan M. Marsaw, also known as &8220;CD Man,&8221; on an indictment Thursday, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.
According to an FBI news release, Marsaw was indicted on two counts of criminal infringement of a copyright, including reproduction and distribution of CDs and DVDs with a retail value of more than $2,500.
If he is found guilty, Marsaw could be sentenced to five years in prison and/or fined up to $250,000 for each count.
Marsaw was originally arrested on charges of piracy by Natchez police July 29, 2005, Mullins said.
&8220;He was selling CDs out of his van,&8221; Mullins said. &8220;We had information that he was selling pirated CDs, and we were able to confiscate a large number of those and make an arrest.&8221;
The Natchez Police Department is holding Marsaw for the FBI, he said.
The FBI will prosecute the case, Mullins said, and it is now out of the NPD&8217;s hands.
