The Angels have earned a No. 1 state ranking and a No. 4 world ranking in the eight and under girls softball league and play in the USSSA. The 14 girls need approximately $5,000 to meet travel needs, beginning early Monday to Orlando, Fla. The team raised close to $9,000 through fundraisers and donations.
A chicken dinner will also be offered to anyone wanting to contribute. The dinner cost $5 and includes a barbecue chicken leg quarter, baked beans, potato salad, a roll and cake.
The plates can be ordered by calling Tina Thompson at 601-807-2229. Plates can be picked up at Vidalia Junior High School from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday. Large orders can be delivered, Thompson said.
