Case indicted for murder

NATCHEZ &8212; Accused of the first murder of 2006, John Christopher Case, 29, was served an indictment Wednesday.

Sheriff Ronny Brown said the Adams County Sheriff&8217;s Office jailed Case. He was released on bond and will appear before the circuit court Aug. 24.

Case, of 17 Beechwood Lane, is accused of beating Billy Dean Arnold Jr., 38, in Case&8217;s driveway in March.

The two allegedly got in a fight in front of Case&8217;s Montebello house. Arnold sustained severe head injuries and died in an ambulance on the way to a local hospital, police reports at the time said.

Arnold&8217;s death was the first homicide in Natchez-Adams County this year.

The Natchez Police Department had no new information on the case they could share, Chief Mike Mullins said Wednesday.

The sheriff&8217;s office has 54 grand jury indictments to serve from the last grand jury session, and they started today, Brown said.
