NATCHEZ &8212; One of the biggest problems when interviewing for a job is not knowing what the employer&8217;s company does, Randy Castilaw said.

Castilaw, a Copiah Lincoln Community College teacher in Wesson, conducted a job preparation workshop Monday, teaching the importance of interview skills. The workshop was held at Copiah-Lincoln in preparation for today&8217;s Great River Regional Job Fair at the Natchez Convention Center.

Castilaw&8217;s workshop gave anyone wanting interview skill improvement or a job the chance to broaden their knowledge on the interview process. The workshop offered interview tips from the type of appropriate interview attire for prospective employees down to interview techniques.

&8220;There is going to be an impression made in the first five minutes of an interview,&8221; he said. &8220;I&8217;m trying to help them understand what the process is. This could be a first contact with a future employer.&8221;

A computer lab was also available for those wanting assistance on resume construction.

&8220;The workshop was very educational,&8221; workshop attendee Candace Turner said. &8220;I&8217;m looking for a job and wanted to improve on my resume and interviewing skills and I think this helped.&8221;

For those who missed Monday&8217;s workshop, a mobile resume-writing unit will be outside the Convention Center today for last minute assistance, Job Fair committee member Peggy Ballard said.

&8220;I am really pleased with the crowd that is here,&8221; Ballard said. &8220;When you have something like this sometimes you have a good turnout and sometimes you don&8217;t.&8221;

The fair begins today at 9 a.m. lasting until 2 p.m. and expects over 60 employers, all of which &8220;have legitimate job offers,&8221; Ballard said.
