NATCHEZ &8212; When it comes to food and drinks, a new doctor will soon be in on Main Street.
A new restaurant and bar, &8220;Dr. Biglove&8217;s,&8221; will fill the vacant Downtown Deli building by mid-October, bar co-owner Bobby Derrick said Friday.
Derrick, along with partner Tim Sessions, will open the restaurant and bar with a medical theme.
&8220;It&8217;s just going to be fun,&8221; Derrick said. &8220;It&8217;s a medical healing type theme. Our menu is based on the theme, and our staff is uniformed to the theme. All of our &8220;shots&8221; will be administered in syringes.&8221;
Derrick said he thought such an unusual theme would draw people.
&8220;It&8217;s something I&8217;ve kicked around for a really long time,&8221; he said.
Mainstream entertainment would also draw patrons, Derrick said. He said the venue would bring in headline entertainment to complement its stage and studio-quality sound system.
The building in downtown Natchez was a perfect fit, Derrick said.
&8220;We looked at several different facilities in Natchez and across the river,&8221; he said. &8220;When we walked in this old building, it was full of magic for both of us. It&8217;s a neat place, and we liked the downtown atmosphere.&8221;
The venue would draw patrons who would also shop at surrounding businesses, Derrick said.
&8220;It will bring a lot of good people to the downtown area,&8221; he said.
