RIDGECREST &8212; The race for the Ridgecrest School Board seat in District-4B is now between two candidates, following incumbent Jimmy Wilkinson&8217;s withdrawal.
On Sept. 12, Concordia Parish Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber Jr. received a notice of withdrawal from the Louisiana Secretary of State&8217;s office indicating that Wilkinson dropped out of the race on Sept. 8.
In a written statement, Wilkinson stated his reason for withdrawing was because, &8220;My business has provided new opportunities which require more of my time.&8221;
Wilkinson is the owner of a radiator and automotive service in Ridgecrest.
In his statement, Wilkinson said it was an honor to be elected by the voters of District 4-B and he enjoyed serving as a spokesperson for the people in his district.
Wilkinson wrote that his proudest accomplishment was working to keep Ridgecrest School in operation.
On Sept. 30, voters in District 4-B will choose between Bettie Jean Johnson and Dayrle W. Price.
Webber said Wilkinson&8217;s name would still be on the ballot because he filed for withdrawal so late, but any votes cast for him would not count.
