Ferriday&8217;s first road game was a barn-burner, as the team rallied from a 19 point first half deficit to win 21-19 over Lake Charles-Boston.

Ferriday coach James McFarland credited the team&8217;s heart and the adjustments made at halftime as what allowed the Trojans to keep their spotless record intact.

&8220;We stepped it up made some adjustments, the big thing was we kept on playing,&8221; McFarland said. &8220;Normally when a team gets down like that they just pack up the tent and go home. We really had our backs against the walls and kept on swinging.&8221;

Wide receiver Matthew Smith pulled in touchdown passes, including a 20-yard touchdown reception with just over five minutes left to play in the fourth quarter.

McFarland said that he felt being on the road had something to do with the Trojans sluggish performance in the first half.

Quarterback Kendric Harris struggled early on, but McFarland said that it was probably because he had something more important on his mind. Earlier in the week Harris&8217; lost his godmother, and her funeral is today.

Nevertheless Harris was able to rally the team in the second half, and McFarland credited his performance as being one of the keys to the win.

&8220;It doesn&8217;t change, a football game is four quarters and we kept on fighting,&8221; McFarland said. &8220;I think we proved something tonight in that we&8217;re going to fight until the last seconds tick off the clock.&8221;

Next week the Trojans will play on the road once again, this time at Red River, who beat the Trojans 39-14.

&8220;I don&8217;t know if they&8217;re better than last year, and I won&8217;t know much about them until I exchange films tomorrow,&8221; McFarland said. &8220;I know they drug us all over the field last year, so I think we owe them one.&8221;
