NATCHEZ &8212; This weekend&8217;s Miss-Lou Wildlife Expo at the Natchez Convention center has a little something to offer everyone.
With over 50 booths, exhibiting everything from dry rubs to laser shoots, organizers have made sure that there is plenty on hand to keep the interest of outdoor enthusiasts young and old.
&8220;We try to provide a little something for everyone,&8221; event director Jack Cupit said. &8220;No one who brings their little one out here is going to be disappointed.&8221;
Cupit, president of the Friends of St. Catherine Creek, has been hard at work for the past four months to insure that this year&8217;s Miss-Lou Wildlife Expo does not disappoint.
Among the things that Cupit says will pique the interest of children at the exposition are an air slide, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Parks and Fisheries&8217; 3-D Laser Shoot, and the Knights of Columbus&8217; Bow Shoot.
Both the Laser Shoot and the Bow Shoot held the interest of plenty of youngsters Friday afternoon.
The Laser Shoot exhibit allowed children the chance to use a laser-pointing gun, which gave them the chance to virtually practice shooting skeet that fly across one of two jumbo screens.
The idea behind the exhibit is to allow MDWFP representatives to talk a little about hunter safety, while giving the children something that closely resembles a high-powered video game.
Other attractions for kids are a Falcon demonstration, which will only be held during Saturday&8217;s show, but is sure to put a look of amazement on the faces of all children in attendance, as it did last weekend at the Wildlife Extravaganza in Jackson.
If birds of prey don&8217;t sound interesting, perhaps the chance to pet a baby alligator would be more appealing.
Also on hand are plenty of great foods, which range from funnel cakes to meat on a stick.
Tickets are available at the door. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12 and children under 6 get in free.
