Ridley&8217;s three carries lead to Trinity win

TALLULAH, La. &8212; Stevan Ridley had two rushing touchdowns, a punt return for a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown as the Saints, the No. 1 team in Class A, rolled to a shutout win over the Trojans in the District 7-A opener for both teams.

Ridley had three carries for 145 yards and had touchdown runs of 48 and 47 yards to go with a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter. He added a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Matthew Freeman had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown and Parker Brumfield threw an eight-yard touchdown pas to Wells Middleton as Trinity (3-0, 1-0) scored 32 points in the first quarter.

Clint Easom had touchdown runs of six and two yards while Chase Cauthen was credited with a safety in the second quarter. R.J. Fleming ended the scoring with a 90-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Centreville 38, Riverdale 8

CENTREVILLE &8212; The Tigers celebrated homecoming by scoring 20 points in the first quarter and rolled to an impressive win over the Rebels.

Chip Jenkins had a 57-yard touchdown run, Josh Lanehart had a 37-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Brabham, and Cody Holmes had a 7-yard touchdown run, his first of two in the game, as Centreville (2-1) jumped out to a 20-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

By the time Riverdale (0-3) had scored on a 4-yard run by Whittington, the Rebels were already down 26-0.

Jackson (La.) 40, Wilkinson County 28

JACKSON, La. &8212; The Chiefs (1-1) denied the Wildcats their first win of the season with a stunning win Friday night.

Wilkinson County dropped to 0-3 with the loss.

University Lab 21, Vidalia 8

BATON ROUGE &8212; The Vidalia Vikings fought hard but were no match for University Lab Friday night in a 21-8 loss.

Adam Mixon of University Lab scored twice in the win.

Franklin County 33, Prentiss 6

PRENTISS &8212; Prentiss&8217;s defense could not stop Franklin County&8217;s running game, which accounted for 353 of the visiting Bulldogs&8217; 390 yards as the No. 5 team in Class 3A defeated the home-team Bulldogs 33-6.

Antoine Guice led Franklin County (3-0) with six carries for 113 yards, 86 of those on a touchdown run late in the second quarter.

Jordan Hunt had a 2-yard touchdown run, Preston Griffith had a 55-yard scoring run, and Mike Hunt blocked a punt which Gary Rogers recovered in the end zone as the Bulldogs scored 26 points in the second quarter.

Griffith had seven carries for 67 yards and Alex Smith had 84 yards rushing on nine carries.

Prentiss (0-3) actually had a 6-0 lead when Avery Sands recovered a fumble and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown with just 21 seconds left in the first quarter.

That would be the only points for Prentiss in the game as it was held to 81 yards of total offense.
