VIDALIA &8212; The Vidalia Vikings have seen the hardest part of their schedule come and go, and now are ready for a push for the LHSAA playoffs.

The Vikings (2-3), will have to make a long trip, however, to get there.

&8220;We&8217;re playing the Farmerville Farmers,&8221; head coach Dee Faircloth said. &8220;They&8217;re 0-5, but they&8217;ve played some tough competition. They&8217;re probably the best 0-5 team around. It&8217;s a long trip, too &8212; about two-and-a-half hours. We&8217;ll be wore out before we get there.&8221;

The Farmers will present a big challenge on offense, according to Faircloth.

&8220;They run the ball,&8221; he said. &8220;They like to spread you out and run it. They&8217;ve got an excellent quarterback, and he ate us alive last year. I&8217;ll bet he&8217;s licking his chops.&8221;

Defensively, Farmerville will give a different look than most of Vidalia&8217;s opponents.

&8220;They like to run a 4-4 defense,&8221; he said. &8220;We&8217;ll just have to take whatever they give us. If they play the run, we&8217;ll try and pass. If they play the pass, we&8217;ll try and run.&8221;

Jordan Brewer (arm) and Lance Moore (knee) are both out for the remainder of the season, Faircloth said.

Sitting at 2-3 and on the outside looking in of the playoff picture, Faircloth said he hoped the team would remain focused and put up a good run.

&8220;It just depends on how well our kids play,&8221; Faircloth said. &8220;We don&8217;t want to finish 32 (in the power points), because then we&8217;ll have to play John Curtis, who beat Hoover (Ala.) last week. Hopefully the kids will keep their spirits up and get things going. That&8217;s the key.&8221;

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Farmerville.

Ferriday at Red River

The Ferriday Trojans survived a scare at Lake Charles Boston last week, rallying from a 19-0 deficit to take a 21-19 win, and now face another road trip.

Red River (2-3), another 2A school, has wins over 2A Rosepine and 1A Tensas, and losses to Booker T. Washington, Delhi Charter and Horner.

The Trojans will visit Red River at 7 p.m. Friday.

La Salle at Block

The Block Bears, still looking for their first win of the season, will host La Salle Friday night.

It will be the first district game for the Bears (0-5).

La Salle&8217;s (1-4) only win came against 1A Sarepta.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Jonesville.
