Arrest made in shooting

NATCHEZ &8212; Natchez Police made an arrest Wednesday in the Sept. 24 shooting of a woman on Wilson Road.

Joseph Thomas, 21, 9 A East Woodlawn St., was charged with one count of aggravated assault. No bond will be set until arraignment.

A woman was shot in the leg in front of Mr. Z&8217;s on Wilson Road early that morning.

The victim and the suspect were acquainted, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said. The suspect also knew the man who was in the car with the victim at the time of the shooting.

&8220;We are still investigating, and it&8217;s likely we&8217;ll have more arrests in this case,&8221; Mullins said.

The 24-year-old woman and her boyfriend were getting into her car Sept. 24, when a man ran up to the car and fired one shot through the window, according to police reports. The victim drove herself to the hospital.

At the time, the victim said she did not know the suspect.
