NATCHEZ &8212; The Fox News Channel will likely air a report Wednesday on ex-city planner Andrew Smith&8217;s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission discrimination complaint against the city.
Fox correspondent Jonathan Serrie was in Natchez Oct. 9 and spoke with Mayor Phillip West.
&8220;We are eagerly awaiting the reply from (Smith&8217;s) attorney,&8221; Serrie said Monday.
The piece will probably air on Fox Report at 6 p.m. Wednesday, he said.
West fired Smith in June after he said he received complaints from Smith&8217;s co-workers and the public.
Smith filed the discrimination claim in August, according to West.
In September, West said he did not dismiss Smith on the basis of race, saying it was a frivolous charge and simply untrue.
Smith and West are both black.
At the time he was in town, Serrie said he was interested in the situation because a fired black employee filing racial discrimination claims against a black employer was unusual.
