Mistakes contributed to the Rebels&8217; 36-15 win over the Tigers in a key district game for both teams.

Centreville, ranked No. 2 in Class AA and No. 11 in the Mississippi Associated Press private schools poll, went into the game with a 2-0 record in district play. Central Private needed a win to take the district lead and clinch a playoff spot.

The Tigers got off to a good start with an 11-play, 73-yard drive that culminated in Nick Goudeau&8217;s 3-yard touchdown run with 6:53 to go in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.

But just as quickly as Centreville (7-2, 2-1) had the momentum on its side, it gave it right away with uncharacteristic turnovers that helped Central Private take the lead for good in the second quarter.

Tensas 47, Tallulah 20

ST. JOSEPH &8212; The Chiefs finally got into the win column in District 7-A thanks to an outstanding performance by running back Will Ratcliff, who had 231 yards and four touchdowns in a big win over the Chiefs.

On Senior Night at Tensas, Ratcliff, one of four seniors playing their last home game of the season, had two touchdowns in the first quarter, one in the second quarter and one in the third quarter.

&8220;It was a good Senior Night,&8221; Chiefs head coach Chris Jacobs said. &8220;We just came out and felt like we could run the ball and we did. A lot more fun than a lot of games this season.&8221;

Tensas (3-6, 1-3) jumped to a 28-6 halftime lead over longtime rival Tallulah (2-7, 0-3) thanks to three Ratcliff touchdowns and a 37-yard touchdown pass fro Bennett Schauf to Mitch Lansing.

Hazlehurst 37, Jefferson County 20

HAZLEHURST &8212; The Tigers gave the defending Class 3A state champion Indians their best shot, but the Indians&8217; defense pitched a shutout in the second half and got a key touchdown in the third quarter.

Jefferson County (3-6, 1-4 in Region 6-3A) had its slim playoff hopes ended at Hazlehurst&8217;s homecoming game while Hazlehurst (6-2, 4-1) still has a shot at the number two seed out of the region.

The Tigers took an 8-7 lead with 4:25 to go in the first quarter on Jermaine Clark&8217;s seven-yard touchdown run and Percy Turner&8217;s two-yard conversion pass to Shelbeo Trevillion.

Courtney Hall gave the Indians the lead on a 50-yard touchdown run with 2:48 to go in the first quarter, but Jefferson County answered as Martee Tenner scored on a 15-yard run with 11:52 left in the second quarter, but a failed two-point conversion run kept the score at 15-15.

Northwood-Lena 60, Block 8

JONESVILLE, La. &8212; It was the Willie Key and Joey Gilmore show at Block Friday night as the two combined for 250 yards and six touchdowns as the Gators remained undefeated in District 3-1A.

Key led Northwood-Lena (7-1, 3-0) with 10 carries for 148 yards and five touchdowns and Gilmore, the quarterback, had six carries for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Block (0-8, 0-3) was held to one yard rushing on 21 carries, which included quarterback sacks and 82 yards of total yards. The Bears&8217; only score was a 4-yard touchdown run by Hunter Key in the second quarter.
