NATCHEZ &8212; Sometimes it&8217;s not how you start or finish, it&8217;s how things go in the middle.

The middle of Tuesday evening&8217;s ACCS Girl&8217;s Tip-Off Tournament game between ACCS and the Oak Forest Lady Jackets belonged to the Lady Rebels, as they outscored Oak Forest 39-18 in the second and third quarters to take a 56-38 win.

Ariana DeLaSalle had a monster game for ACCS, pouring in 27 points to lead the way.

Nicole Thornton led Oak Forest with 10 points.

After a back-and-forth first quarter that ended tied at nine, the Lady Rebels built an eight-point halftime lead.

The third quarter would belong to ACCS, as a seven-point lead turned into a 44-23 cushion with a 14-0 Lady Rebel run midway through the quarter.

ACCS head coach Chuck Bauerle felt his team had made big strides since last week&8217;s Huntington jamboree.

&8220;It was a real good performance at times, and it was a little lazy and sloppy at times,&8221; he said. &8220;We played well against a pretty good team tonight.&8221;

Bauerle said he felt his team&8217;s full court pressure on defense worked well, although he felt his team wasn&8217;t yet in shape to employ it throughout a game.

&8220;I thought our press did a good job of throwing them off,&8221; he said. &8220;We were doing a great job with it there at first, but the girls started getting a little tired. We&8217;re not quite in good enough shape yet to play it all game, but I was happy with how we did with it.&8221;

He also said he was impressed with the way his team was able to use DeLaSalle to its advantage.

&8220;We isolated Ariana a lot in the second half, and she must have gotten four or five buckets in a row at one point,&8221; he said. &8220;I thought she did a great job tonight.

&8220;The girls worked hard, and I was pleased. Everybody got to play, and it was a good win over a good team.&8221;

Katie Anne Swinny scored eight points for ACCS, and Michelle Guedon scored six.

Cara Davis and Cassie Bennett pitched in eight and seven, respectively, for the Lady Jackets.
