Services for Jane Hyde West Stewart, of Jackson, formerly of Fayette, who died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, at Highland Home Care Center, in Ridgeland, will be 11 a.m. today at Spencer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brister Ware officiating.
Burial will be at Fayette City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home, Natchez.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at Spencer Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Stewart was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Cleveland, the daughter of William Alfred West and Mary Ingram West. She lived most of her early years in Cleveland and in Shaw before her marriage to Isaac Dudley Stewart, of Fayette, on July 24, 1940. She lived in Fayette for 53 years where she was active in the community serving as Chairman of the Jefferson County School Board, president of Presbyterian Women of the Church and the Fayette Garden Club. She also served as regent of the James Rex Whitney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and taught Sunday School at the Fayette Presbyterian Church. She moved to Jackson in 1992 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. During her college days she attended Belhaven College and was a graduate of Millsaps College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
Survivors include her sons, Dudley Stewart and wife, Bee, of Greenville, and John West Stewart and wife, Beckey, of Jackson; grandchildren, Hyde Loupassi of Richmond, Va., West Stewart of Kailua, Hawaii, Zack Stewart of Cleveland, and Brent Stewart of Brandon; great-grandchildren, Doxey, Stewart and Manoli Loupassi, all of Richmond, Va., Anna Vaughn, Forman and Charlie Stewart, all of Cleveland.
Pallbearers will be Richard Noble, Ed Davis Noble, Lee Louis, West Stewart, Zack Stewart, and Brent Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayette Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 424, Fayette, MS 39069.
