Huey Alwell

Graveside services for Huey Olarson Alwell, 73, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Alexandria, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pease Cemetery in Larto, La., with military rites, and with the Rev. Gordon Finlay officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Comer Funeral Home.
Mr. Alwell was born Feb. 3, 1933, in Larto, the son of B.A. “Kenny” Alwell and Eunice Wiley Alwell. He was a retired tire builder with Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co. in Natchez. He was a life-long resident of Catahoula and Concordia parishes and of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Alwell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Alwell; a brother, C.B. Alwell; and a step-daughter, Sherrill Littleton.
Survivors include dauther, Patricia Metcalf and her husband, Henry, both of Monterey; step-son, Roy Powell of Ferriday; stepdaughter, Barbara Dunlap of Denham Springs; sister, Lola Mae Walker of Pineville; grandchildren, Reuben and Adrian Metcalf; six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be C.B. Alwell Jr., Justin Alwell, Henry Metcalf and Roy Powell.
