According to a Concordia Parish Sheriff&8217;s Office press release, the CPSO received a call at 10:20 a.m. that shots had been fired in Apt. C-23.

Deputies Robert Pearson, Sgt. John Mitchell and Craig Sewell responded immediately, along with Sheriff Randy Maxwell, the CPSO Special Response Team, Metro and AMR ambulance services, Ferriday Police Department and Concordia Fire District-2.

Maxwell said Cameron Michelle Morales, 27, and Baron Latron Burrell, 29, were both found shot to death in the apartment&8217;s dining room when the SRT team made entry.

Morales was shot twice in the head and Burrell was shot once in the temple. It is believed that Burrell allegedly shot Morales, and then turned the gun on himself.

The couple&8217;s children were at the apartment at the time of the incident and escaped without injury. It is believed that one of the juveniles may have witnessed her mother being shot.

A man was also at the residence at the time of the shooting and he too escaped without injury. He was said to have been in another room of the apartment when he heard the apartment door being kicked in and shots fired.

No one reported that any additional shots were fired.

&8220;This was a huge tragedy for all the families involved in this incident,&8221; Maxwell stated.

In the release, Maxwell expressed his appreciation to all emergency personnel involved.

&8220;This was handled very professionally by everyone,&8221; Maxwell stated. &8220;It was a difficult situation and extremely tragic.&8221;

CPSO&8217;s lead investigator in the case is David Hedrick. The investigation is ongoing as investigators question family, friends and neighbors of the couple.
