NATCHEZ &8212; The 16-year-old daughter of a woman killed in September was arrested Friday on an indictment for charges of murder.
Brittany Dajon Kelly, 16, 16 Phillip West Road, was arrested by Adams County Sheriff&8217;s officers as she left school, Maj. Jody Waldrop, an investigator with ACSO, said.
Jaqueline Thompson, 35, 48 B Proby Road, died of a gunshot wound to the head on September 24, officials said at the time.
A grand jury indicted Kelly last week on charges of murder.
She will be held without bond until arraignment next week.
Waldrop said he would not release any details of the ongoing investigation Friday.
He did say there would be more charges to come, and Sheriff Ronny Brown said there would likely be more arrests made. Neither would elaborate.
&8220;This is just one step closer to the completion of the case,&8221; Waldrop said.
The attorney general&8217;s office, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the district attorney&8217;s office and the Adams&8217; County Sheriff&8217;s Office collaborated on the case, Brown said.
At the time of Thompson&8217;s death, there was evidence of breaking and entering, officials said.
Some members of the family hindered the investigation by refusing to cooperate, Brown said in early October. Several family members obtained legal counsel, as well, he said at the time.
Other family members cooperated, volunteering DNA samples and some information, he said.
Kelly will be charged as an adult under state law allowing any suspect over age 13 who allegedly uses a firearm to commit a crime to be charged as an adult.
