Season begins with parade

The lesser known little boy in the Christmas classic &8220;A Christmas Story&8221; would be bursting at the seams with excitement about now.
Ralphie was intent on getting in to see Santa to request his Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle.
Younger brother Randy just wanted to go to the parade.
And for good reason &8212; there are all sorts of floats, characters, bands and, at the end, Santa.
It was enough to have the boy in the 1980s movie jumping, begging and grinning.
And the same can happen here.
The Natchez Christmas parade is two days away. No matter the size of the town or the size of the parade, the event is something our children can get excited about. And if the kids are excited, usually the adults are too.
So, whether it&8217;s cold or not, grab your candy-getting bag and hit the downtown streets Sunday at 3 p.m. The community asked for this parade, now it&8217;s time to support it.
Randy was happy with his Christmas activities. Ralphie on the other hand, finally got in to see Santa where he received a giant foot in the face and the classic line &8220;You&8217;ll shoot your eye out, kid.&8221;
See you Sunday.
