Services for Alton Jennings Ogden Sr., 79, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala., will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McNeely Road Church of God with the Revs. Victor Stewart, Steve Bullion and Napoleon O’Quinn officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Ogden was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Wilkinson County, the son of Jessie Carroll Ogden and Lena Sturdivant Ogden. He was a prominent, successful businessman in the oil and petroleum industry for 60 years. He was owner and operator of Belle Oil Company in Natchez. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Maetee Ogden of Natchez; children, Alton J. Ogden Jr. and his wife, Beverly, both of Natchez, Judy O. Holland of Walker, La. and Jerry Paul Ogden of Natchez; grandchildren, Kayla Holland, Jheri Dupre Ogden and Bethany Toy Ogden; step-children, Thomas Devon Day Jr. of Houston and Debra Hardin of Houston; step-grandchild, Jessica Nicole Hardin; sister, Agnes Holloway of Natchez; and brother, Hugh D. Ogden of Sun City, Calif.
Memorials may be made to the Natchez Children’s Home or the Natchez Stewpot.
