Holidays mark week of good news

Are you bored with your Christmas presents yet? The hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations have come and gone, but not without some good news for our area.

Let&8217;s review the good news of last week:

4Rentech plans are trucking along, and the coal-to-liquid facility is preparing to locate a plant in Natchez by 2011. Project Manager Joe Regnery said this week that he&8217;ll be in town next month to further engineering work. The future of the Miss-Lou could easily rest in the success of Rentech. It&8217;s always nice to hear a good report from the company.

4Some kindergarten students at Vidalia Lower Elementary are getting the extra push they need. Seven students are part of an after-school enrichment program aimed at extra help for the successful. These students are the top in their classes, the best readers and the ones with great potential. Often, federal and state regulations force teachers to focus on the students who lag behind, leaving the high achievers to run in place. But this program offers the best of both worlds.

4Louisiana State Rep. Andy Anders has his first session under his belt after only a few months on the job. This first session was about learning the ropes and shaking hands for Anders. We hope now he&8217;ll be well prepared to represent Concordia Parish well in the spring session.

We have one week left in 2006. Let&8217;s make it a good one, so we can start 2007 off on a high note.
