Two Adams County residents helped in the arrest of an accused burglar Wednesday, according to sheriff’s reports.

The residents flagged down a patrolling deputy in Morgantown. They said someone had just broken into the vacant house across their street.

At about the same time, a call came in over the radio requesting response to the area.

The deputies chased down the suspect on foot, TASERed and arrested O’Bryan Cortez Washington, 18, 34 Dogwood Drive, on charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and resisting arrest by flight.

Washington was released on $15,500 bond.

Sheriff Ronny Brown said the two residents were part of the Neighborhood Watch program.

“It’s a good thing,” he said. “We praise the Neighborhood Watch for helping.”
