Robert Rasberry

Services for Robert Reynolds Rasberry, 87, who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 after a short illness, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Rasberry was born March 14, 1919, in Meridian, the son of Lonnie Lafitte Rasberry and Fannie Olivia Dearman Rasberry. He was the youngest of five. He attended school in Meridian and enlisted in the United States Army in 1940, serving in the Army Air Corps at numerous posts in the United States and Hawaii. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1945. After his discharge, he and his wife owned and operated Quality Grocery on St. Catherine Street in Natchez for many years. He eventually retired as a rural mail carrier from the United States Postal Service. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Natchez, a Mason member of Harmony Lodge No. 1, and he was active for many years in the Natchez Little Theatre serving on the board of directors.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Doris Phillips Rasberry; his parents; brothers, Mason Rasberry and Cecil Rasberry; and sisters, Willie Rasberry and Ela Herrington.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Harrison and her husband, Walter, and Jennifer Rasberry, all of Natchez; son, Robert Morris Rasberry of Natchez; and granddaughter, Emily Kristin Orr of Gainesville, Va.
Pallbearers will be John Leckie, Connell Miller, Connie Miller, Ronnie Blackwell, Bill Rice and Bill Mayer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Harrison, Albert Duck and all of the Rasberry nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of choice.
