A Natchez man died on his birthday after a tree-cutting accident in Vidalia.

Adams County Coroner James E. Lee said Samuel Lee Brown, 50, 104 Joe Frazier Drive, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. at Natchez Regional Regional Medical Center, Thursday.

Lee said Brown was cutting trees for a Vidalia resident at 408 Buck Lane when a tree limb gave way and Brown fell approximately 15 feet to the ground.

Lee said the resident called for an ambulance, and Brown was transported by Metro Ambulance Service to Natchez Regional.

Lee said Brown died of massive trauma to the head and neck.

“I just hate these types of accidents; unfortunately they do happen,” Lee said.

“My sympathy goes out to the family.”

Since the incident occurred in Vidalia, Lee said the case was referred to Concordia Parish Coroner Dr. Sarah Lee and she will continue the investigation.

Sarah Lee was unable able to be reached for comment Thursday evening.
