Services for Marcia Yates Davis, who died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at her residence, will be noon today at St. Francis Hall in St. Andrews Cathedral.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Ms. Davis was born June 21, 1937, in Memphis, Tenn., the daughter of Susie Ellen Knowlton Yates and Thomas Elijah Yates. She was a longtime resident of Jackson, and graduated from Central High School in 1954. She attended the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was an active communicant of St. Andrews Cathedral, the Colonial Dames, the Junior League of Jackson, the Pilgrimage Garden Club of Natchez, the 75 Club, the 21 Club, the Candlewasters, the Recess Luncheon Club, the Palladian Club and seveal book clubs.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Charles R. Davis; son, Drew Davis of Decatur, Ala.; two daughters, Polly D. Bourne and her husband, Bo, of Jackson and Ellen D. Ellis and her husband, Mark, of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Mary Charles and Sam Davis, Lloyd, Knowlton and Davis Bourne, Sarah Frances, Julia and Polly Rosa Ellis; two sisters, Lina Y. Elfert of Greenwood and Mary Elizabeth Yates; brother, Tommy Yates of Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
