Are you looking for an organization that gives voice to community concerns and brings residents together to work toward positive solutions?

If so, the Natchez-Adams County Community Alliance is for you.

The Community Alliance is a nonprofit organization made up of a diverse group of individuals who meet each month to share information, discuss community needs and formulate solutions designed to meet those needs.

There is no membership fee and all members of the public are welcome to participate.

Each year, the alliance takes on a project designed to benefit our community or solve a particular problem. We then raise funds and appoint a committee chairman to make sure that project is completed.

At the January 2006 meeting, members proposed several projects for consideration.

Of particular concern to members was the condition of the Veteran’s Memorial in Memorial Park. Under the leadership of last year’s chairwoman, Matilda Stephens, and executive board member Mark LaFrancis, funds were quickly raised for necessary renovations, repairs and enhancements.

By summer, the project was completed. We are very proud of that success, and look forward to undertaking a project for 2007.

In order to do that, however, we need your participation.

As this year’s chairwoman, I am extending a personal invitation to each and every citizen of Natchez and Adams County to join us at our annual membership meeting on 2 p.m. today at the Natchez Community Center, 215 Franklin St. in Natchez.

We will be receiving proposals from the public regarding this year’s project.

Bring yourself, bring your family, bring a friend and come and share your ideas for projects. By working together, we can make a positive impact on our community.

Brett Brinegar is chairwoman of the Natchez-Adams County Community Alliance.
