Police are looking for suspects in a string of car burglaries that took place this weekend.

Three cars Friday night and three cars Saturday night were broken into, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said Monday.

Friday night, three vehicles were broken into on Arlington Avenue, and a Savage .270-caliber rifle with scope, a Remington 12-gauge shotgun and a muzzle-loader with scope were missing from one car.

From another car, a Spyderco knife and a blue anodized buck knife were missing.

Saturday night, the cars broken into were on North Union and North Rankin Streets. A leather brief case, a Kodak camera and a Sony cell phone were missing from those cars.

“Most likely these things are connected,” Mullins said.

Often, a valuable, like a purse or a gun, lying in plain sight can prove a tempting target for thieves, he said.

“These things were in plain view,” Mullins said. “Please remove items in plain view that might be a target for a car burglary.”

Police have made no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing, Mullins said.

“We are actively working on these cases right now,” he said.

“A substantial reward” is available for information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible, he said.

“If anybody sees anyone with these items, please call with information,” Mullins said.
