Frances Anderson

Services for Frances J. Anderson, 84, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at the Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. today at Milford Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Alsworth officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Anderson was born May 29, 1922, in Adams County, the daughter of Sarah Myles Gooden and Theodore and Neil Thornburg.

She was a member of Milford Baptist Church, former member of the church choir, Milford Missionary Society, Willing Workers Club, Deaconess and President of the Mothers Board. She was also Chairperson of the Milford Refreshment Committee, member of Order of Eastern Star, Edna Anderson Chapter 11 OES and Star of Bethlehem #4. She began her schooling at Painters in Robinson Bottom, was employed and retired as Certified Nursing Assistant in both hospital and private duty industry.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Anderson; son, Cleotha Anderson; and a grandson, Eugene Anderson.

Survivors include her children, Lena Tate, James Anderson Jr. and wife, Melvia, Lee Wilbert Anderson and wife, Angela, Otis Ray Anderson, Otis Montrell Anderson, all of Natchez, Gladys Clark Plaine and husband, Charles, of Inglewood, Calif., Francis Diggs of Mountain View, Calif., Dianne Holmes of Carson, Calif., Thelma Rhea and husband, Edward, of Antioch, Ga. and Isaac Anderson and wife, Catrina, of California; sisters, Daisy Thornburg, Sorphornia Dyson and husband, Nelson, Sarah Lucas, Helen Curtis and Helen Gooden, all of Natchez; brothers, Luther Thornburg and wife, Georgia of Natchez and John Gooden and wife, Marie, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Daisy Brooks and husband, Wardell, of North Chicago, Ill., Marjorie Kinds, Doretha Mackel, both of Natchez; brothers-in-law, Robert Anderson of Seattle, and Freddie Anderson and wife, Georgia, of Natchez; 33 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Masons.
