Culture tops last week’s good news

A rainy, dreary week with only one day of sun still managed to bring a few good headlines to the Miss-Lou. Let’s review some of last week’s good news:

4The Town of Ferriday worked out a deal with a local architect that will again put the construction of a new community center on go. Conflicts had delayed the project. The $1 million center is part of a revitalization project for downtown Ferriday.

4Hollywood, here we come. Two locals are ready to see Natchez on the big screen sometime soon, and they are going to take the steps to make it happen. Sally Durkin and Jennifer Ogden are planning a trip to Hollywood to recruit filmmakers to our quaint city.

Any silver screen productions the pair can court to Natchez could mean big dollars and big exposure for our area.

4Ogden is staying busy. She’s also a part of the newly formed Natchez Council for Arts and Culture. The council is in its earliest stages, but the founders hope to organize local artists and expand cultural growth. Natchez is already a hub of creative thinkers; a little organization could go a long way for us all.

The weather forecast looks nearly as dreary for the coming week, but rain or shine our community is bound to create good news.
