Services for David E. “Pop” Cater, 72, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Revs. Tommy Foster and Everette Ellzeby officiating.
Burial will follow at Sarepta Baptist Church Cemetery, in Franklin County, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Cater was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Franklin County, the son of Henry and Nettie Terrell Cater.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Everline Hammack; and a brother, Rayford Cater.
Survivors include his wife, Clara G. Cater, of Natchez; a son, Steve Cater and wife, Kathy, of Natchez; a daughter, Helen Foster and husband, Bobby, of Natchez; grandchildren, Johnathan Foster, Ethan Foster, Travis Foster, David M. Cater and Magen Cater; one great-grandchild; brothers, James Cater and wife, Lucie, of Natchez, Elmer Cater and wife, Faye, Pedro Cater and wife, Mildred, and Howard Cater and wife, Pat, all of Natchez; sisters, Jo Havard of Roxie, Ann Willard of Evanston, Wyo., and Lucille Littleton of Natchez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Foster, Ethan Foster, Travis Foster, David M. Cater, Carrol Cater, Ken Carpenter, Chuck Parker and Bobby Cater.
