Natchez needs more activities for youth
I am Josh Calloway. I’m a seventh-grader at Cathedral School. I have talked to many friends and we all agree that there needs to be more things to do in this town outside of school activities. I have discussed different solutions with my friends. I have heard people say that we need more sports activities and some night spots where young people can visit in the evenings on weekends.
I would suggest that Boy Scout programs might be considered as one solution. More churches and other organizations could sponsor these programs. These could include Cub Scout Packs for younger boys and Boy Scout Troops for older boys. The Boy Scouts of America also has a program called Venture Scouts that includes boys and girls ages 14 through 21. All of these programs teach kids manners, discipline and good citizenship. They are also a lot of fun. I happen to be a member of Boy Scout Troop 158 sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. I have found that program to be a lot of fun and I have learned a lot.
