Services for Alfredo “Fred” Louis Verucchi Jr., 73, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, in Jackson, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Natchez with Dr. Judson W. Hurt officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Verucchi was born Dec. 4, 1933, in Natchez, the son of Alfredo Louis and Ollie Matthews Verucchi Sr. Mr. Verucchi was ordained as a deacon of the First Baptist Church on Dec. 5, 1980. He retired from International Paper Company after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and served in Germany. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carrol Porter Verucchi; daughters, Linda and Diana Verucchi; sister, Mary Jewell Hughes; his second wife, Patsy Palmer Verucchi; and long time best friend, J. C. Thornburg.
Survivors include his daughter, Tanya J. Verucchi of Old Hickory, Tenn.; brother, Michael Leroy Verucchi of Natchez; sisters, Annette McManus of Natchez and Virginia Golmon of Huntsville, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Duane Verucchi, Hugh “Corkey” Pearson, W. D. “Billy” Hutcherson, Len Whittington, Flavius Freeman and Lynwood Easterling.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rice Mens Sunday School Class First Baptist Church, C. D. Ballard, Charles “Bubba” Patterson and Curtis Smith.
