Services for Charles King Sr., 76, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in Baton Rouge, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Stanton officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mark Baptist Church Cemetery, Kingston, under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. King was born March 3, 1930, in Adams County, the son of Charles E. King and Addie Hayes King. He served in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Alcorn College and was an educator from 1961 until his retirement in 1993. He also served the area as a driver education teacher. He was a baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bertha Smith King; sister, Ethel Gordon; and brother, Edward King.
Survivors include his son, Charles King Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Angela Landers and husband, Maurice, of Prosper, Texas; siblings, Mary G. Stanton, Artee King and wife, Yvonne, all of Natchez, Ruby Smith and husband, Wheaton, of Seattle, Wash., Joseph King and wife, Pat, of Collins, Robert King and wife, Julia, of Atlanta, and Kyle Cubie of Vidalia; sisters-in-law, Mable King, Ruby Smith, and Hannah Wimley and husband, Willie, all of Natchez, and Corzette Smith of Desota, Texas; brothers-in-law, Willie Smith and wife, Ethel, of College Park, Ga., and Clarence Smith of Natchez; three grandchildren, Maurice Landers III, Khari King and Kayla Landers; a cherished friend, Artie Rose White; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
