A small amount of marijuana, a bottle of codeine and unidentified green pills were found at Robert Lewis Middle School Wednesday.

City and county K-9 units walked through the school Wednesday morning as part of a routine drug check. The dogs located the drugs after searching the parking lot, hallways and four classrooms, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The report stated eight bags of marijuana were recovered.

“They were small,” Sheriff Ronny Brown said.

“It’s not that much, enough to make a couple of cigarettes. On the street they are called dime bags and they sell for about $10.”

No arrests were made, and Brown said further action would be up to the school district.

The offenders are juveniles and the charges would be misdemeanors.

Brown said the ACSO would notify Youth Court Judge John Hudson of the incident.

Interim Principal Larry Hooper said he had not yet received confirmation from authorities that the substances found were in fact drugs.

“I don’t want to say anything negative about my school at this point,” Hooper said.

“We have good things at our school, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure we have a drug-free, safe environment that is conducive to learning.”
