NATCHEZ — Edward Johnson had a solid performance on the mound for Natchez High as he allowed three runs and scattered six hits as the Bulldogs defeated the McComb Tigers Monday afternoon at Chester Willis Field.

“We played really good defense today and got some consistent pitching for a change,” Bulldogs head coach Charlie Williams said.

Natchez High (8-5) also did quite well at the plate. The Bulldogs pounded out 10 hits and scored in five consecutive innings. Thomas Hughes led the way by going 2-for-3 with a triple and a double.

The Bulldogs actually trailed in this game as they fell behind 1-0 in the top of the second inning before scoring five unanswered runs over the next three innings. The Tigers didn’t score again until the top of the fifth, yet still trailed 5-2.

Natchez High then put the game away with one run in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the sixth.
