City’s leaders are embarassing

Am I the only voter tired of picking up the morning paper and being embarrassed by some our leaders making the headlines by being accused of breaking the law?

Natchez and its voters deserve better!

Natchez needs revenue, right?

With the circus atmosphere in and around city hall, a tent should be pitched there and tickets sold to tourists.

There can also be a sign that reads “Peanuts, peanuts, get your hot peanuts!”

One would swear that there were a bunch of clowns in office, and we only have to go as far as downtown to see the show!

I am all for progress, but not at the expense of some of our elected officials being accused of breaking the law or not waiting for permits to demolish a building.

Our leaders have insulted our intelligence by asking us to believe the pecan factory was torn down as a safety precaution.

Then why was it left in a more dangerous state than it was before demolition?

How is a gigantic, exposed pile of rubble safe?

If this issue ends up having to be defended in court, the costs should be paid by the person that broke the law and not by the taxpayers.

Leaders should be honest, ethical and should have integrity and be examples to our youth. From reading The Democrat lately and from your actions, I don’t see those characteristics in some of our leaders.

They don’t deserve our votes. My precious vote won’t be wasted on any of you making negative headlines.

We, the people, voted you in and I hope we the people will vote you out!

I believe some of our politicians think so highly of their positions that they assume they are exempt from the law.

Most of you seem to think you can do what you want now and worry about the consequences later, and that has to stop!

Elected officials are just that — “elected.” So stop thinking so highly of yourselves, start thinking about Natchez and the negative publicity that your antics are bringing upon this town. Is it too much to ask of our leaders to have a little decorum for the offices you hold?

For those of you elected officials that are making us proud, we thank you!

For many of the others, if you don’t want to be perceived as clowns performing in a political circus, stop making public spectacles of yourselves, and at least pretend to appreciate the voters that elected you by making us proud, until then I call ‘em as I see ‘em!
