Services for Daniel “Walter” Tisdale, 83, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, March 17, 2007, will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Gray officiating.

Burial will follow at South Central Cemetery in Wisner, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Tisdale was born April 3, 1923, in Wisner, the son of Daniel Warner Tisdale and Grace Ferrington Tisdale. He was a resident of Ferriday, a carpenter, a longtime farmer in Concordia Parish, a member of the Masonic Lodge 390 and a member of First Baptist Church of Ferriday. Mr. Tisdale served in the United States Navy during World War II as an electrician on LST. He was also ranked as a Golden Glove Boxer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Daniel Lee Tisdadle; brother, Charles Tisdale; great-granddaughter, Bailey Reagan; and step-grandson, Kane Fancher.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Irma Newman Tisdale of Ferriday; son, Tim Tisdale and wife, Gayla, of Monterey; sister, Joyce Tisdale of Wisner; grandson, Aaron Tisdale and wife, Kasi, of Monterey; granddaughter, Heather Tisdale of Ridgecrest; step-grandson, Cole Fancher of Monterey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Zane Boykin, Ermis Wilson, Guy Hill, Marion Newman, Ernie Newman, James Stephens, Derick Seguin and Tommy Boykin.
