Trinity Episcopal will have its hands full this week as the Saints begin a three-game road trip today.

The Saints (3-4, 1-1) will face Franklin Academy today, Parklane on Wednesday, and then close out the road swing in a must win district match-up against Tensas Friday.

“Hopefully we will continue to get good pitching, and start making routine plays,” Trinity head coach Matt Mason said. “Routine plays are routine plays, and if you don’t make routine plays, you can’t win ball games.”

Trinity lost to Centreville 8-6 on Saturday in a game, which the Saints blew a two run lead in the top of the sixth inning after committing six errors. Mason said the key to the Saints getting back on track is to just continue playing.

“We need playing time. We need to be on the field playing. Hopefully the more we play, the more we will make those routine plays,” he said.

Centreville working on improving chemistry

As Centreville Academy prepares for its district schedule, Centreville head coach Jason Horne said his team is still working on building chemistry.

After finishing second in district play last season and losing several starters, Centreville (3-6) is trying to make another run at the playoffs with a much younger team. The Tigers started 4 ninth graders against Trinity on Saturday.

“The past few weeks we have been trying to build chemistry by putting our best nine players on the field,” Horne said. “We want to build a nucleus and make a run at it.”

He said the Tigers have swung the bats better, but he said the Tigers must improve on the mound.

“Getting experience is the main thing the younger guys must do to in order to get better,” Horne said.

The Tigers will next face Sillman at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
