The Cougars pounded out 10 hits and had two big innings at the plate to defeat the Saints Monday night.
Franklin Academy scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to break a 1-1 tie and then added four more in the bottom of the fourth to put the game out of reach. The Saints hurt themselves by committing five errors in the game.
Cayler Martin went 2-for-3 with a double and Justin Johns was 2-for-2 for the Cougars. Parker Brumfield was 3-for-4 and Jordan Dossett ended up with two hits in three at-bats, including a double for Trinity (3-5).
Trinity’s game at Parklane Wednesday afternoon was cancelled. That means the Saints won’t play again until Friday afternoon when they travel to St. Joseph for a District 7-A match-up with Tensas Academy at 3:30 p.m.
