Hounds sweep Riverdale

Huntington had a break from their district schedule, so head coach it decided to take on Riverdale in a varsity doubleheader Friday night. The result was a sweep by the Hounds.

In the first game, Huntington needed just five innings to take care of Riverdale. The Hounds scored two runs in the bottom of the first, second and fourth innings and six runs in the bottom of the third.

Riverdale, on the other hand, scored its lone run in the top of the first inning and had just five hits off winning pitcher Jordan Wilson. Matt Warren and Thomas Lester each went 2-for-3 for the Rebels.

The Hounds got three hits from Phillip Washington and two hits each from Trey Corbett, Josh Lee and Zack Brown. Corbett hit a home run while Lee and Brown each had a double.

In the second game, the Hounds broke a 1-1 tie with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and added another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-1 lead. The Rebels scored five runs in the top of the seventh, but the Hounds held on for the win.

Lee, the winning pitcher for Huntington (7-7) in the second game, went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double and Corbett was 3-for-4 with two doubles.
