Services for Melanie Powell Walker, 56, of Ruston, formerly of Monterey, who died Sunday, March 25, 2007, at her residence, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Monterey, with the Rev. Gene Lee officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Walker was born April 16, 1950, in Ferriday, the daughter of J. B. and Freddie Jo G. Powell. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lismore Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Freddie Jo Green Powell; and a sister, Lisa Powell Vogt.
Survivors include her husband, James Walker of Ruston; a son, Jim Walker of Ruston; a daughter, Kristi Walker of Ruston; father, J. B. Powell of Monterey; sisters, Sandra Lanehart of Monticello, Ark., Lori McDaniel of Crowville, Teresa Powell and Nicki Powell, both of Monterey; and grandchildren, Devan Walker and Dylan Walker, both of Killeen, Texas.
Pallbearers will be John Poindexter, Charles Landhart, Charlie Cannon, Johnny McDaniel, Frank Vogt III and Steve Jones.
