West Lincoln 13, Cathedral 2

NATCHEZ — Two big innings at the plate combined with the pitching of Heather Huff enabled the Lady Bears to defeat the Lady Green Wave in five innings Thursday afternoon in a Division 7-1A game at the Natchez-Adams Girls Softball Complex.

West Lincoln broke the game open with six runs in the top of the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Lady Bears then added six more runs just two innings later. Cathedral (3-11, 0-6) scored its only two runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Huff helped her cause by going 2-for-4 while teammates Taylor Crews and Kacey Smith each had a triple. Smith also went 2-for-4 as the Lady Bears wound up with nine hits.
