Patrick McDonough, Aaron White and Braxton Fondren combined to pitch a one-hit shutout as the Cathedral Green Wave rolled to a big win over the Salem Wildcats Friday night in a Region 7-1A game.

McDonough pitched the first two innings and struck out four batters. White pitched the third and Fondren pitched the fourth. The game lasted just four innings, which for Salem was a good thing.

McDonough also helped his own cause by going 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. But the big story at the plate in this game was the performance of Cole Junkin, who went 3-for-3 with five RBIs.

Preston Edwards didn’t do too bad himself as he was 2-for-3 with a double, which surprisingly was the only extra-base hit for the Green Wave, which finished with 13 hits.

Cathedral (15-4, 7-0) started off the game with six runs in the top of the first inning. The Green Wave then scored three runs in the top of the second, four in the top of the third and three in the top of the fourth.
